Nutrition Advice: Tips & Advice

For most of us at some point in our lives weight loss (Losing Body Fat) becomes our priority. There are 100's of diet plans already out there, The Keto Diet, Intermittent Fasting, The Atkins Diet, Carb Cycling, Metabolic Typing, The Mediterranean Diet and many more which in one way or another have all been backed up by scientific research.

In my experience, when individuals follow a popular diet plan it can work well for a few days, weeks or months until a change in circumstances causes a setback.  This happens with 80% of fad dieters. Any new situation....a holiday, relationship problems, children, a lack of motivation and even a Global Pandemic can cause people to revert back to pre-diet eating habits (which can be far from healthy) and inevitably, gain more weight. The diet was short term and didn’t inspire a permanent lifestyle change.

Personally, I always encourage clients not to diet but to work at eating sensibly and healthily first, taking positive aspects of their current eating habits and working on the negative ones. If you follow this strategy you may not need to go on a restrictive diet, a few sustainable changes and the weight could possibly come off and stay off permanently.

If you want to lose those extra few pounds for a special occasion, a wedding, holiday, Christmas party etc. Then this is the time to find a short term diet to suit you. As long as you realise that these restrictive diets aren’t sustainable long term and you need to be able to revert back to a long term healthy eating plan after the event.
